Oil Change

Just thought I would pop back to see what's happening ... and here's something that I can help with. We used to change the oil on PollyC through the dipstick using a Pela Pump. This is basically a vaccuum device, with a probe that leads into a tough plastic globe, with a stirrup type pump on top. On...

Farewell from PollyC

Dear all, Just wanted to say cheerio as I have just finalised the sale of PollyC. As things happen, we have been given the chance to swap marques and so are off to join the Freeman set, in an absolutely gorgeous 28ft'er. Thanks to everyone for the support and fellowship - happy sailing to you all, a...

Inverting experiences

Mmm you're probably right... Thanks for your thoughts. I've no intention of fitting a washing machine though :) I'm still at the 'thinking about it' stage at the moment. I just need to think through the pros and cons a bit more. The starter battery is well protected by isolator, so that is one conce...

Inverting experiences

Hello all, Following a trip to the boat jumble in Garstang this weekend, I have been seriously thinking about getting an inverter for PollyC. We already have a battery management system installed, which ensures that our 2 110amp leisure batteries are kept in tip top condition whilst hooked up to sho...

Starting Problems & Battery Capacity

Sorry to hear about your starting problems Eric, we have gone through a series of similar trials getting PollyC started. We currently have a 55AH battery reserved for starting, maintained via a Waeco Mobitronic battery charger. However we have also problem solved the following issues you might like ...

Window Seals

Sorry about your experiences with Aidrian. I know a number of people on Bridge House Marina have used him.

As for Capt Tolley - yup I swear by him for all of my creeping cracks !

Good luck

Fuel Tank

The filler hose is not too big a problem - more time consuming really. I replaced mine last season after water got into the tank through a faulty filler cap. I dd have to remove the paneling on the port side, and took off the old filler cap. This left enough play for the filler hose to be pulled off...

The best improvements for a 27 ?

Thanks Jed.
I've seen Alistair's work, it is very good.
Just need to save up a few pennies really.

Never mind about the Freeman though - someone has to own them, and you may never know, a Nauticus may come up for sale one day !

Window Seals

Steve,

There is a very reliable firm on the canal called River Glass.
The bloke's name is Aidrian - send me a message if you need his number.

He has replaced 4 of our window seals (including the two front windows), and did a good job. I didn't have the bottle to try it myself !
