Hello everyone we are new to this forum so I will introduce us both.
We are Derek and Linda hence the name lyndel.
We currently do not own a Nauticus,we have a centre thingy pit Charnwood which has served us well but now the kids are grown up it is time to get what we want
The Nauticus is is our dream boat and we are hoping to get a 27 soon. We thought we had got one last year but after talking to Mick about it and finding out some of the pitfalls we decided to wait a while untill we can get one that doesn't need so much work.
We love visiting the site and picking up info which we hope will be useful in our quest for the boat that will eventually become Lyndel.

Good luck with your search Derek and Lyn - what part of the country are you in ?
We love our 27, primarily for the space inside and the easy of steering. When you buy, make sure that the outleg is checked thoroughly. There are a couple of us who have been having a few difficulties. Other than that, I'm sure you will find the craft an excellent choice.

Hi and welcome
There is a good Nauticus for sale at Penton Hook on the Thames (Staines / Chertsy), I think its still there. I saw it at Abingdon, not sure but I believe it is Petrol.

Hi there, we live in Bedfordshire and we have our boat moored at Elton boat club just outside Peterborough.
We have seen the Nauticus for sale at Penton Hook but it wasn,t quite what we were looking for and having just paid our income tax the search is on hold for a couple of months.
We are grateful for any advice that other owners can offer.

Not wanting to put you off a Nauticus, but we chose ours as it was a Good example, especially the interior, of suitable "Weekender" at a price which we felt reflected that usage.
As we were looking for a Thames based craft, we could have ended up with a Freeman, Shetland, Birchwood, Princess or Norman, depending on what was available.
If you are going to stay on the Nene only then all the above are worth looking at.
However if you wish to use the Canals, your choice is more restricted for cruisers.
I am sure when you see "Your Boat" it will all make sense.
In my opinion the Nauticus is the Best Canal Cruiser available, it did not get the title of the "Rolls Royce of the Canals" for Nothing, and with a bit of fetteling even a poor specimen can be made alive again.

Wanting a Nauticus
We have looked at other boats including those mentioned but we find the Nauticus is the one that suits us best from a layout point of view. We will be using the boat to go cruising so we are looking for the comfort factor that the Nauticus provides. We wont be restricting ourselves to the Nene but are planning a trip onto the middle level then on to the Ouse and beyond.

Ours was a tired and neglected boat when we bought her (with a rather strange sounding name). However the most important part was that the hull and the gel coat was sound and recoverable.
After two years of refurbishment, we have got PollyC to where we want her. We are on the Lancaster Canal (and so a little limited for cruising), however there are plans to take her across the Ribble Link over the next year or two, and explore the Leeds/Liverpool Canal (and who knows, possibly even beyond).
One advantage of the class is that she is relatively narrow beamed (at 6'10) and so should get down some of the narrow canals in the Midlands (if we make it that far).

We agree the one at penton hook was quite good but the thingypit lay out is wrong for us.
We would like to have two helmsmans seats as a start .
We belive that when we see the boat for us we will know.

Wanting a Nauticus
It's quite easy to fit a second seat on the starboard side of the c-o-c-k-pit. We have a fridge in that position with a cupboard over it. A second helmsman seat fits rather well there.We would like to have two helmsmans seats as a start .
Don't be put off if you have to do it yourself !
