Hi dotty...the "average" weight of a Nauticus with empty tanks and a deisel engine is 1.5 to 1.75 tons . regarding transporters look for a reputable one and make sure they have insurance in case of accidents caused by their mistakes, however, you'd enjoy cruising and its cheaper too.

Regarding fenders and locks..after many years on the canal system with my naucusii (is that REALLY the plural.? ) I found it better NOT to leave the fenders down when using locks..2 reasons..one..some locks are really narrow and disformed due to years of subsidence and even with a 27 footer in a may...
