steering wheel mechanism

Hi folks! Iam a new member. My boat is "SPADGER" ex "MISS MYWAY" can anyone please help me with info about the steering mechanism box situated behind the steering wheel. A makers name or a source for spares or diagrams would be great.

Hya Dave. Your steering mechanism is usually a Teleflex system. You can find details of these online in various places. I have just had to replace my steering cable after over 40 years of use. Its a pretty straight forward process "if" you can get hold of a similar cable that is, that was my main difficulty. If you've any other questions don't hesitate to ask..regards...Arthur

Thanks for your reply. The cable on my boat is ok,, but the wheel has half a turn of free play, which I think is due to wear in the rotary steering box. I need to know if I can repair this, or if not the model number of a suitable replacement.The ones I have seen on the net do not look the same. Do you know of anyone who might know.
